BIOMEDICAL ETHICS IN RELATION TO ABORTION
Over the years, abortion has been at the center of debates, which entails different
perspectives such as ethical, social, medical, and psychological as well as the legality of the action
(McCormick, 2013). The issue of abortion is mainly concerned with making a rational decision
relating to whether one should abort or not. In regards to the biomedical perspective, the medical
physicians perform their duties in accordance with biomedical principles. Biomedical principles
are guidelines set aside to ensure that medical practitioners provide proper and standard care to
their patients while observing ethical standards (McCormick, 2013). The most significant principle
relating to abortion is respect for autonomy.
Abortion is among the major controversies relating to medical ethics. Abortion entails
voluntary termination of pregnancy through the removal of embryo or fetus from the mother
leading to its death. Issues that arise from the topic of abortion include the need to observe human
