suppose

f(x)  = x+ 3

y = x+3

x = y-3

f^-1(x)  =   x - 3

therefor  f(x)  = x+ 3

f^-1(x)  =   x - 3

now  f(f^-1(x)) = x-3 +3 =  x

and  f^-1(f(x)) =  x+3-3 = x

so both

f(f^-1(x))  = f^-1(f(x))   = x

now hope it will be clear now.
