Organizational Behavior Analysis
Institution Affiliation

Organizational behavior can be described as the study of the behavior between
individuals and their organizations, how organizations interact with people, as well as other
organizations. It is categorized into three groups, namely, micro-level which represents the
individuals in the entity, the macro-level explaining how organizations behave and the mesolevel representing the work groups. The study of organizational behavior helps to identify how
the organization operates, its culture, its strengths, as well as the challenges and weaknesses that
it should work on. Organizational behavior can be traced back during Max Weber's times and the
industrial revolution. It examines the human behavior in their work environment and accesses the
impact of the behavior to performance, motivation, leadership, the structure of the job, and
communication (Jesinoski, Miller & Volker, 2016).
Different organizations have different organizational behavior that defines them from
others. Having worked in a large educational institution, I am well able to identify the company’s
organizational behavior, its culture and much more which is the primary focus of this paper. My
former employer is a huge, well-known college, Brights College, which has been growing at a
swift rate in the last several years. Brights started as a small college that aimed for the students in

are supposed to behave, the beliefs, and the customs. The written and the unwritten rules of the
organization that have been developed over a long period constitute the organizational culture.
Culture plays a huge role in shaping the behaviors of the employees, the manner of ways that
groups interact in the organization with each other, with stakeholders, and with clients.
There are many types of cultures, for instance, pluralism, dualism and salad bowl. Brights
college can be described to have a pluralist culture. This culture refers to smaller groups of
people that are within a bigger society that have unique cultures and values that they maintain.
These values and practices are accepted by society and are inconsistent with the laws of the
community they live in. In pluralism, the individual groups not only do they live together and
coexist, but they also make considerations of other groups that are represented in the community.
This means that there occurs no discrimination between the two or more groups that are
represented in the particular community (Lindh Karlsson & Redström, 2016).
Brights College is a pluralistic culture because it has always aimed at maintaining its
unique and outstanding cultural identity over the years. For instance, its priority to gi...
