THE RISE AND FALL OF BYZANTINE EMPIRE
The Byzantine Empire is also known as the Eastern Roman Empire and Byzantium
(McClanan 2016). This empire was the continuation of the Roman Empire in its eastern
provinces during the ancient times and Middle Ages, its capital city at that time was
Constantinople, the Byzantine Empire was a large and strong culture, its history can be traced
back to 330 AD when Roman emperor constantine1 devoted a new Rome on the side of the
ancient Greek colony of Byzantium, however the empire finally collapsed in the year 1453 after
being attacked by Ottoman forces during leadership. This paper is going to talk about the rise
and fall of the Byzantine Empire.
Rise of the Byzantine Empire
The empire came into existence in the year 324 AD after the foundation of city of
Constantinople; however its division did not happen until the year 395 AD. The construction of
Constantinople rapidly commenced after the foundation of new Rome, with many buildings
being put into place throughout the city. These buildings included the new hippodrome, clerical
buildings, and palaces among other important buildings. Churches were built on the outside city
walls making a connection between religion and the emperors in order to ensure strong
leadership powers between leaders and religion.
