Jubal early and the American civil war
Virginia in Franklin County is the birthplace of Jubal Anderson Early on the 3rd of November of
1816. Jubal was later appointed at a US military school at West Point in 1813 (Brady 430). In
1837, he graduated and joined the states’ third artillery. However, in 1838, he resigned, and his
commission took law again in Virginia. In Virginia, he was a prominent popular prosecutor. His
recognizable name earned him a position in the House of Delegates upon election in 1814 in
Virginia. In 1846 to 1848, he returned as military major where he served during the Mexican and
American war. Later on, he went back to his law career.
