Question Description

Essay Reflection

Reflect: Reflection is an important part of the writing process. Consider how the writing process has been going for you with your essay up to this point. This is your space for one-on-one time with your instructor. After you submit your reflection in this quiz, your instructor will respond. You have the choice to reply to your instructor by Day 7 to continue the conversation. However, you are not required to respond.

Write: Your initial post must be 200-300 words in length. Please include the following:

  • At least two things that are going well.
  • Two things that have been more difficult.
  • 2-3 specific items in your essay thus far that you are struggling with, are concerned about, or would like some advice on.

As you write, be specific in which areas you are referring to, such as the introduction, claim, counterargument, etc., and how it relates to your experience with the writing process.

Discussion Reply

Guided Response: Respond to at least two of your classmates’ posts by Day 7. Your response must be at least 200 words. In each response,

  • Reflect on the peer-review process from last week and the review from the Writing Center this week. Offer your classmate some thoughts and questions on the experience of having others review one’s work.
  • Take a look at your classmate’s plans and offer a reliable web page or other source that addresses an aspect of his/her revision. In addition to the Ashford Writing Center, what are some other resources that are helpful?
  • Determine if you can you share in your classmate’s plans for revision. Why is it helpful to share ideas in the writing process?
