A family is a system where individuals interact by observing specific rules and norms.
The Bowenian therapy identifies the basic units in a family that determines togetherness or
individuality as triangles. Essentially, triangulation is an instance where a third party diffuses
tension in a relationship (Multigenerational Family Therapy, 2017). The third party is
detached and not the source of stress or conflict. Dyads are the first form and involve two
individuals. Dyad is the most unstable form of the unit as two individuals oscillated from
