HIS1060 Villanova Voltaire's Candide Analytical Essay

Question Description

I need an explanation for this History question to help me study.

I have to write an analytical essay on Voltaire's Candide. The essay should include the author's thesis and examples of Voltaire's use of satire to critique social hierarchy, the church, and the state. Do not use any sources in the essay beyond the book. Since it is a short essay, it really has to have thoughtful analysis of Voltaire's use of satirical techniques in the novella in order to criticize the notions of optimism, class hierarchies, and hypocrisy of church officials and rulers.
