How do i solve for the given replacement set?

7x+28=77 {5, 7, 9}

You just substitute the unkown x with the values in the set to determine which is the solution to the problem

starting with 5

7(5) +28 = 77

35+28= 77

63 = 73 (this is not correct)

using 7

7(7) +28 =77

77= 77 this is correct. 7 is therefore the solution to the problem

Thank you so much! It makes so much more sense now. So, to clarify, the answer is 7?
