I attended a high school that required all students to board in the school. The school had an eclectic mix of students from several backgrounds. On my first day of school, both my parents accompanied me to report to the school. As we recalled the events of the day, my parents could remember clearly how the school looked and how the staff was very receptive and helpful but could barely remember how the students looked or behaved. I, on the other side could barely remember the staff that helped admit me but could clearly remember how the old and new students behaved, how they looked and carried themselves. I came to later realized the discrepancy in memory was due to my fear. I feared how the students would treat me. I wondered whether they were better than me or if they related to my life experiences. My parents did not have that fear, they were receptive t anything.
I remember the first students I met and how they behaved. I also remember how nice some students were , especially one who helped me settle in. I also remember the stares from students.
