Using your cursor, click on our area of the US. What type of biome is this area of the US? (you will find the answer in the pop-up window next to “BIOME_DESC”. 2. Following from the previous question, your map should show our biome area of the US outlined in turquoise because it is selected on the map. Zoom out so you can see the whole world. You will see other areas of the world with the same biome type also selected. Take a screen snapshot with the legend open and paste here. Part 3: Add your own layer Search ArcGIS for another global layer of biotic or abiotic information that would be related to biomes and add to the map. Examples are climate types, a map of precipitation totals, vegetation zones, or soil types. 1. 2. 3. 4. What layer did you add to the map? Briefly describe what the layer gives information about. Take a screen shot of the layer with the legend open and paste here. Zoom to our area of the US. What is the mapped category for our area of the US? Finally, compare the original layer you added of Global Biomes and the layer you added.
