Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

Crime data are reports and statistics that convey an extensive assortment of information about crime to the stake holders  in the criminal justice agencies. Crime statistics includes topics such as the extent of crime, nature or characteristics of criminal offenses, as well as analysis on how the nature and characteristics of crime change over time. Crime data also communicates specific information about the characteristics of the criminal incident, the perpetrator(s), and the victim(s).

Keeping accurate crime data by law enforcement agencies serve very important purposes as it is used by public agencies, officials and all other criminal justice agencies in generating reports reports that help the government in making policies and budgets. In the absence of accurate crime data the government ends up making wrong decisions regarding crime prevention and wrong budgeting decisions.
