Quantum Mechanics Outline
A description of what Quantum mechanics involves is discussed. It involves the study of the
behavior of matter when exposed to energy. Matter, in this case, includes the smallest particles of
matter in the form of atoms. Most of the electronic devices used in the modern world rely on the
principles of quantum mechanics.
The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
The use of the device, MRI is explained as well as its application of the quantum principles. The
MRI is used to observe the internal body organs without the need for an incision. The device
applies quantum physics as it is dependent on the hydrogen atom radio frequency waves, a highintensity magnetic field and a computer system to process an image.
The laser device amplifies light through the emission of photons in a simulated way. Quantum
mechanics is also used in this technology which is mostly used in the field of computing,
military, welding, and medicine.
The GPS technology
GPS method of operation is explained in this section. The GPS consists of interconnected
satellites that make it easy to determine the location of places or individuals at a given time. This
happens through a process called trilateration.
Personal application of Quantum Mechanics
Examples of the areas I have applied quantum mechanics are explained. For instance, I have
used a barcode scanner, smartphone and a computer all of which rely on the quantum theory.
