Description
When 3 times a certain number n is added to six, the sum is 20 more than the original number. What is the number n? I plugged numbers in and think n=7 but I can't show the work so it's right.
Explanation & Answer
Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!
So our equation will look like 3n+6 = 20+n. Now, we need to combine like terms, so we will subtract n on both sides and subtract 6 from both sides. Our equation then looks like this: 2n=14. If we divide both sides by 2, n=7.
To check our work, if we plug 7 back into the equation, 3(7)+6 = 20+7, 27=27.
