Why should it not be surprising that parts of the Old Testament reflect beliefs and values found in neighboring cultures of the Ancient Near East. Genesis makes it clear that Jewish roots are at least partly to be found in Mesopotamia. Discuss one way that Genesis reaffirms these Near Eastern roots.
