➢ Chain of infection is the process through which an infectious agent or a pathogen
go through a cycle, stages, or process before it can cause an infection. The main
elements of a chain of infection are a pathogen, the pathogen source, port of exit,
transportation or the transmission mode, the entry point or port, and a susceptible
host.
➢ The four stages of the infectious process start by normal floras which represent
agents that are not of a threat or harm to the body. It then goes against the body
system defenses. The third process is the inflammation reaction that includes the
cellular and vascular response, developing inflammatory fluids, and then the
process of tissue repair. However, if a pathogen passes all the three stages, the
fourth stages of serious health problems occur.
