Is Leisure Public Responsibility or Personal Problem

Is Leisure Public Responsibility or Personal Problem (I Choose Public Responsibility)
I am pro leisure is public responsibility because leisure plays an important role not only
in communities but also leisure today is more than what most consider to be the opposite of
work. It is a recognized economic segment touching on real estate, transportation,
communication, travel, food and clothing. In addition to this, leisure is an incentive to work
because employees feel rejuvenated after going on leisure and are motivated to be more
productive. As it stands today in the united states and the rest of the world, everything has an
economic dimension. Leisure being part of this economic dimension has its resources circulated
through the economic system. Opposers of leisure being public responsibility argue that it is time
lost to the economy because no goods and services are produced. In addition, working people are
not paying taxes or earning wages. This notion overlooks various things such as the significance
of leisure time to consume. During workers free time they tend to consume more goods and
services as compared to when they are at work. Also, the hospitality business gets a lot of clients
thus generating revenue (Haney & Kline, 2010). People also tend to travel and communicate a
lot during leisure which refutes the claim that leisure is time lost to the economy.
According to the Guardian newspaper, leisure is today considered as an intrusion to the
productive process, a moment to recharge and unwind before moving on with work. In support
of leisure being a public responsibility, the article argues it should be for everyone and not a
chosen few. The failure of a political organization is the reason why this public program is not
implemented. BBC in support of this public responsibility claims that people who exercise
during their free time have fewer chances of suffering from anxiety and depression. It adds that
people regardless of their economic background enjoy exercising especially during their leisure
time. A higher level of interaction is also experienced during leisure time.
