The 21st Century Policing Report
The President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing in the year 2015 presented a
report on how to strengthen general public trusts thereby fostering and strengthening the
relationship between the local law enforcement agencies. This would eventually promote
effectiveness in crime reduction. The Task Force which included representatives from law
enforcement departments, leaders of the community, and the youths was mandated with the
duty to accomplish the force’s objectives. The members of this Task Force engaged the
federal and local states, leaders, and the tribal officials, as well as the criminal justice expert
trough public hearing, meeting and written communications to review the police practices and
address the issues ( Lum, and Daniel, p 354)

for actions will bring forth long term improvements in the manner in which the law
enforcement agencies interact. The task force's recommendation was published in a report in
May 2015. The report included a set of six pillars which includes; Building Trust and
Legitimacy, Policy and oversight, Social Media and Technology, Community Policing and
