The Buddha lived in the 6th to 4th century in Nepal with his life and teachings
influencing the people of India and the western world as well. The Buddha, Siddhartha Gautama,
lived a lavish life and it was until he was twenty-nine years that he set out to explore the “real
world” (Thera, 2017). It was during this period that he encountered death, disease, and suffering
for the first time. This experience challenged him to reject material wealth and sought to find
enlightenment through meditation which he attained after six years. This enlightenment enabled
him to understand the basic cause of human suffering and how it could be made better (Thera,
