Learning our own cultural heritage is a fundamental step towards understanding our values,
world views and behaviors’ since it indicates what our initial culture has been since time
immemorial. It show cases why the family structure exist as it is together with its long held
beliefs and the path the family has been through to shape it to its contemporary status.
Regardless of whether people like their heritage or not, all their life has been molded and shaped
based on their heritage since it’s their only individual story. The focus of this paper will be to
evaluate my cultural heritage and traditions and the probable origins related to my values,
worldviews and behaviors (Harvey, C. P. (2015).
Family Race/ Ethnicity and Gender
My immediate family’s race is African American with parents from mixed ethnicities. My
mother is 50 percent African and 50% American and my father 50% American and 50percent
Spanish. My brother married a multi racial lady from Hawaii. Her ethnicity is composed of 25%
native Hawaiin, 25% Japanese, 25 percent Puerto Rican and 25 percent Pilipino. On the other
hand, if I talk of a competing or other group is comparable to American culture; it will stand side
by side with my grandfather's family. This is one of Spain who will be considered part of
Western culture. American culture combines etiquette, ritual, tradition, language and other
diversity, and is one of the oldest cultures in the world. If we talk about Western culture, it is
