The Hidden DNA of Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and
“The Four” Assignment – MKT 301
To complete this assignment, you must read, and incorporate information from, at least
four chapters of this book. That is, the first chapter giving an overview of “The Four”;
the chapter that addresses the company your team is analyzing (i.e., Chapter 2 –
Amazon; Chapter 3 – Apple; Chapter 4 – Facebook; and Chapter 5 – Google); Chapter 9 –
“The Fifth Horseman”; and Chapter 11 – “After the Horsemen.”
Your presentation to the class will consist of 6-10 PowerPoint slides (sorry, not Prezi or
Keynote).
Your presentation should address the following topics:
1. An overview of the company (mission, size, history, etc.; just one slide on the
overview).
2. What were the three most interesting things you learned about this company
from the book “The Four”?
3. In what way is the company a “marketing disruptor”?
4. What are the three ways in which the company is highly innovative?
5. What do you most like, and possibly dislike, about this company?
6. Where will this company be in three to five years? Ten years?
7. And, what firm might be the “Fifth Horsemen”? (see Chapter 9)
Your slides should not be “word dense.” Rather, your slides should be an outline that
will prompt your presentation and discussion. If appropriate, try to incorporate one of
the graphs used in the book as a means to explain an aspect of your company.
