Critical Analysis Essay of the Poem ' Daddy ' By Sylvia Plath
Introduction
The poem “Daddy” narrated by Sylvia Plath is a clear illustration of suffering, cruelty
and a cry out of the daughter's soul who lost her father. Plath joins a very meaningful and dark
storyboard to define her feelings to her father. Creating a figurative image for the readers, in the
second person, it is clearly understood that she is unhappy to be alive. Sylvia Plath's custom of
numerous fundamentals of poetry dramatizes her interior battle with male dominance and social
patriarchy. The poem has sixteen five-line stanzas where the poet depicts the loss of her father by
the name, Otto Plath.

Poet begins with the phrase that states she does not do anymore, denoting the fact that she
feels like she has been living in agony for the last thirty years. She refers to her father as
