Introduction
As a paramedic, we play a critical role in the field of healthcare. We are tasked with the
responsibility of responding to various medical emergencies, be it at the scene of an accident or at
the hospital. Paramedic work can be described as work-in-motion since it involves moving from
places to places in response to a crisis, interacting with various individuals and patients, responding
to various emergency calls among many others. This nature of work requires us to be innovative
and creative in order to deliver our services in an efficient and professional manner (Armstrong et
al., 2013).
Innovation is not only felt or experienced in other field such as business sector but also in
the field of healthcare in terms of service delivery. According to Covey (2013), people surrounding
us can immensely contribute to the success of what we are doing. They can turn the seemingly
little things into big things. In this way therefore, innovative and discovery skills such as observing,
associating, networking, questioning and experimenting can immensely improve the paramedic’s
