M = 66 + 6.3w + 12.7h − 6.8a
F = 655 + 4.3w + 4.7h − 4.7a.
Use functional notation to express the basal metabolic rate of a 16 year old female that weighs 146 pounds and is 78 inches tall.

Hi there! Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

For a female we have F = F(wha), where w is measured in pounds, height in inches and age in years, so we plug in the values w=146, h=78 and a=16

F = F(146,78,16)

To calculate this value, we plug it into the formula:

F(146,78,16) = 655+4.3*146+4.7*78-4.7*16 = 1574.2 calories

Please let me know if you need any clarification. Always glad to help!
