The First Event
There were several events in the reconstruction of the west. However, on this paper I will
focus on two events. The first event being how the political elite and the government alike tried
to solve the problems that came about as a result, of economic, political, and social problems that
came about after the civil war. The reconstruction had several advantages and disadvantages.
One of the pros was that the reconstruction led to the restoration of the United States as a unified
nation by 1877. The Western settlement brought with it conflicts with the Native Americans in
the sense that as the west expanded and brought with it industrial growth, there were several
