Lab three – Writing a Research Paper The objectives for this lab will focus on: 1. The ability to use advanced search techniques to gather information for research purposes 2. Writing a research paper using in text Modern Language Association (MLA) citations 3. To gain experience using various advanced features of Microsoft word. You may use the Microsoft Office Text Manual and the Online Word Help (Online Word Help is available by clicking the “?” located in the upper right hand corner of Word Tool Bar) to assist developing your project. Paper Topic: Internet of Things You should address and discuss the following? 1- What is the internet of things? 2- You should address one (Just one) the following impacts: • The impact of internet of things on business • The impact of internet of things on education • The impact of internet of things on healthcare • The impact of internet of things on our lifestyle Purpose: This lab will have students search known resources for information on their respective major/minor field of study. The material will then be presented in a Word document consisting of 1 to 1 ½ page two-column/newsletter type report/flyer. You will also reinforce searching techniques, use of references/citations, and reporting information Description: Students will select and research sources that they are currently aware of on their selected topic. You are required to use at least three different reference sources on your topic. After using the advanced search features and gathering information on your selected topic, you are to write (in your own word) a summary of your findings citing your reference sources. All references are to be cited using MLA format. You are encouraged to explore using Word’s capacity to list your references in a Bibliography. This feature allows you to use the CrossReference capabilities of Word to easily cite your references in your report. Assemble a Word document in a two-column/newspaper flyer format reporting your findings. The basic font for the paper is Times New Roman, 12 Point. It must contain: page header, columns, source write-up (bibliography), cited references, visuals, italic, bold, centered, fully-justified, line spacing changes, highlight, changes in color of text and changes in fonts. Use Word Contextual “References” feature to insert citations and additional references. A separate one page, single column complete bibliography will accompany this assignment on the last page of the Word document.
