Is there a connection between human expression and ethical values?

Classmate #1: Joseph Trumbull posted Feb 21, 2019 10:01 PM Subscribe Contemporary culture, in my opinion, has caused immense changes the humanities. For example, cell phones and tablets have introduced a sense of complacency to the population that causes information to literally be at one's fingertips. Without a desire or drive to find out things one doesn't know it is much more difficult for the humanities to be explored. For those few that insist on furthering the humanities it is more difficult to find people that are interested. With people becoming more and more desensitized due to information being readily available the humanities have to be more than what they have in the past. The humanities have to do something to grab the attention of people and even if that happens the attention held is very brief. The main value of human creative expression for contemporary culture, in my opinion, is for people to put themselves out there. What I mean by that is to have their emotions and feelings and everything that makes a person that individual person into their given humanity. Today's culture seems to be a purely selfish one. In most cases, the humanities today are about the individuals thoughts and feelings. Allowing these thoughts and feelings an outlet can be very therapeutic to some. Classmate #2: Lacey Stevenson posted Feb 20, 2019 5:51 PM Subscribe Hello Class, Based on what I learned regarding human creative expression and ethics in my opinion humanities has been influence by contemporary culture significantly. When you think about contemporary culture through creative expression it forces us express our personal views of the world. The world is filled with so many diverse cultures and our society is steady growing as a whole. As the cultures increase we need to meet they needs. Everything in the world has evolved and is constantly changing, technology has grown so much over the past decades. People can now face time relatives, friends in different countries. Before you had to attend class to get an education students can now earn a degree online at home in they spare time, Laptops are replacing books etc. From taking history and humanities classes I have learned that every culture is unique and different from my own, although I might not fully understand I accept other cultures openly. When you learn about different cultures through humanities it teaches us to keep an open and to not rush to judgment. I personally think humanities is great and should be taught to children in school prior to college.
