International Relations Questions
Introduction

increasing relevance. To understand the relevance of international relations, there is a need to
assess international law as a tool for promoting international peace and stability, the degree of

addressing 21st century challenges, and addressing poverty as a global issue through the United

International Law as a Tool for Peace and Stability

order. International law can be defined as a field that governs the relations and behavior of
independent nations (Traisbach, 2017). These relations are governed in the form of conventions
and treaties. First, international law has contributed to the promotion of peace and stability as

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is the organ that has been set up by the United Nations to
settle international disputes. Through ICJ, there were numerous disputes between nations that
have been solved with the ICJ being an impartial body. Through the ICJ, the non-use of force in
international law has been instituted which has helped to promote peace and order among nations
by offering consideration to other dispute resolution mechanisms as a priority.
