It has had a huge impact on education. It has greatly improved the quality and quantity of education. Schools are being pressured to do more in an attempt to improve the use of technology in boosting the quality and quantity of education. To compete in the real works job market student ought to be taught the needed skills. Also, students continue to place pressure on schools to expose them to current technologies. This paper seeks to explore the impacts of technology on education. When students are well versed with the current technologies teaches get enough time to address more serious issues in the classroom. Also, students are able to comfortably work on their projects with or without the teacher. For instance, programs such as PowerPoint and other graphic arts allow them to illustrate their literary works once they are created on the computers and this makes it easy for students to publish their work on the net. Also, there exist innumerable programs which allow the students to improve their reading skills such as the Reader Rabbit which makes use of games to disguise drill-and-practice routines which enable improve their reading abilities. This is a perfect example of how technology has positively affected language arts education. Another field which has been greatly impacted is science education. Technology Thomas 2 has greatly changed the way things are presented in class. It has a large impact on the way materials are used in teaching in class. “The goal of giving people greater access to more information faster, more conveniently and in more diverse forms was the main technological thrust of the nineteenth century (Postman 374).” All the materials such as textbooks and the internet have been invented and have a connection with the growth of technology in a school setting. There are innumerable advances in technology which are used in the teaching process. It has allowed for at times making things easier though at some point a complicated way of dealing with things in the class level. Technology makes it easy for teachers to embrace teaching in a whole new level though it requires them to first learn the device so that they can teach others. Once they complete learning they are able to sit at a computer and write up an assignment for students. In the future chances are that use of computers will soon become second nature to everybody though it might remain new to some. There is no place where you find technological enthusiasm than among educators. For instance, Lewis Perelman argues that modern information technologies have rendered schools entirely irrelevant considering that there is a lot of information available outside class than there is inside it. Also, the former assistant secretary of education envisions with considerable relish to the tradition that both children and adults ought to be educated in a specific place at a given time. Computer classes have to be organized and be taught in order to keep students up to date with the latest technologies. Apart from the computer era the internet age, this happens to be a major source of information and communication. Students prefer using the internet instead of going to the library Thomas 3 and find study resources. The internet saves a lot of time which could otherwise be spent doing other things. Also, teachers post their assignments on the school web portal for all to see. There are other technologies which aid them in their day to day works. Other technological tools include writing utensils, blackboards, and other objects are technological products. There has been a sleepwalking attitude towards having computers in school whereby they are argued to distract the student from important things where people treat them like gods.
