Impact of Technology on Education
Every aspect of our life is affected by technology. Technology has seen it’s presence
everywhere. It has had a huge impact on education. It has greatly improved the quality and
quantity of education. Schools are being pressured to do more in an attempt to improve the use of
technology in boosting the quality and quantity of education. To compete in the real works job
market student ought to be taught the needed skills. Also, students continue to place pressure on
schools to expose them to current technologies. This paper seeks to explore the impacts of
technology on education.
When students are well versed with the current technologies teaches get enough time to
address more serious issues in the classroom. Also, students are able to comfortably work on
their projects with or without the teacher. For instance, programs such as PowerPoint and other
graphic arts allow them to illustrate their literary works once they are created on the computers
and this makes it easy for students to publish their work on the net. Also, there exist innumerable
programs which allow the students to improve their reading skills such as the Reader Rabbit
which makes use of games to disguise drill-and-practice routines which enable improve their
reading abilities. This is a perfect example of how technology has positively affected language
arts education. Another field which has been greatly impacted is science education. Technology
Thomas 2
has greatly changed the way things are presented in class. It has a large impact on the way
materials are used in teaching in class. “The goal of giving people greater access to more
information faster, more conveniently and in more diverse forms was the main technological
thrust of the nineteenth century (Postman 374).”
All the materials such as textbooks and the internet have been invented and have a
connection with the growth of technology in a school setting. There are innumerable advances in
technology which are used in the teaching process. It has allowed for at times making things
easier though at some point a complicated way of dealing with things in the class level.
Technology makes it easy for teachers to embrace teaching in a whole new level though it
requires them to first learn the device so that they can teach others. Once they complete learning
they are able to sit at a computer and write up an assignment for students. In the future chances
are that use of computers will soon become second nature to everybody though it might remain
new to some.
There is no place where you find technological enthusiasm than among educators. For
instance, Lewis Perelman argues that modern information technologies have rendered schools
entirely irrelevant considering that there is a lot of information available outside class than there
is inside it. Also, the former assistant secretary of education envisions with considerable relish to
the tradition that both children and adults ought to be educated in a specific place at a given time.
Computer classes have to be organized and be taught in order to keep students up to date with the
latest technologies.
Apart from the computer era the internet age, this happens to be a major source of
information and communication. Students prefer using the internet instead of going to the library
Thomas 3
and find study resources. The internet saves a lot of time which could otherwise be spent doing
other things. Also, teachers post their assignments on the school web portal for all to see. There
are other technologies which aid them in their day to day works. Other technological tools
include writing utensils, blackboards, and other objects are technological products. There has
been a sleepwalking attitude towards having computers in school whereby they are argued to
distract the student from important things where people treat them like gods.

Project Deliverable 3: Database and Data Warehousing Design
THIS IS DUE SUNDAY BY MIDNIGHT. Project Deliverable 3: Database and Data Warehousing DesignDue Week 5 and worth 110 pointsThis assignment consists of two (2) sections: a design document and a revised project plan. You must submit both sections as separate files for the completion of this assignment. Label each file name according to the section of the assignment it is written for. Additionally, you may create and / or assume all necessary assumptions needed for the completion of this assignment. One of the main functions of any business is to be able to use data to leverage a strategic competitive advantage. This feat hinges upon a company’s ability to transform data into quality information. The use of relational databases is a necessity for contemporary organizations; however, data warehousing has become a strategic priority due to the enormous amounts of data that must be analyzed along with the varying sources from which data comes. Since you are now the CIO of a data-collection company which gathers data by using Web analytics and operational systems, you must design a solution overview that incorporates data warehousing. The executive team needs to be clear about what data warehousing can provide the company. Section 1: Design Document
Write a four to six (4-6) page design document in which you:
Support the need for data warehousing within your company and elaborate on the best practices that the company will adhere to.
Create a schema that supports the company’s business and processes. Explain and support the database schema with relevant arguments that support the rationale for the structure. Note: The minimum requirement for the schema should entail the tables, fields, relationships, views, and indexes.
Create an Entity-Relationship (E-R) Diagram relating the tables of your database schema through the use of graphical tools in Microsoft Visio or an open source alternative such as Dia. Note: The graphically depicted solution is not included in the required page length but must be included in the design document appendix. Explain your rationale behind the design of your E-R Diagram.
Create a Data Flow Diagram (DFD) relating the tables of your database schema through the use of graphical tools in Microsoft Visio or an open source alternative such as Dia. Note: The graphically depicted solution is not included in the required page length but must be included in the design document appendix.
Illustrate the flow of data including both inputs and outputs for the use of a data warehouse. The diagram must map data between source systems, data warehouses and specified data marts. The diagram should map data between source systems, data warehouses, and specified data marts. Note: The graphically depicted solution is not included in the required page length.Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:
Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.
Include charts or diagrams created in MS Visio or Dia as an appendix of the design document. All references to these diagrams must be included in the body of the design document.Section 2: Revised Project PlanUse Microsoft Project to:
Update the project plan from Project Deliverable 2: Business Requirements, with three to five (3-5) new project tasks each consisting of five to ten (5-10) sub-tasks.The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:
Summarize how information systems represent a key source of competitive advantage for organizations.
Develop information systems-related activities to maximize the business value within and outside the organization.
Use technology and information resources to research issues in information systems.
Write clearly and concisely about strategic issues and practices in the information systems domain using proper writing mechanics and technical style conventions.

The Role of Teams in Organizational Change
Develop a 7-10 slide PowerPoint presentation that assesses the current state of a team or group, and develop strategies to initiate and facilitate group change.IntroductionSuccessful implementation of organizational change is dependent in part on the success of people and teams working together effectively. For this assessment, you will develop a PowerPoint presentation for senior managers in the organization. In this presentation, you will assess the current state of a team or group and then develop strategies to initiate and facilitate group change.PreparationUse the Capella University Library to locate at least one resource that deals with helping teams or groups to change.ScenarioIn Assessment 3 you wrote a memo that maps out how your recommended changes will impact other roles within the organization and how to manage potential points of resistance to change. After your supervisor's boss championed your recommendations in a series of meetings with other upper management, they have requested that you attend an upcoming meeting to present on strategies for approaching change within small groups and teams that may be impacted by your change recommendations. How can a selected group or team be made more effective and ready to respond to the implementation of your ideas for organizational change? What models of group effectiveness might provide a solid framework for this important preparatory work?Your RoleImagine that you work in any organization you choose in any position you like. For the sake of simplicity, you may choose to imagine your present position at a company where you already work. You may use the same organization(s) you chose for Assessments 2 and 3. Whatever your other responsibilities, you are now also tasked with providing change leadership within the organization.RequirementsSelect a team or group that is in need of change in your selected organization. Then complete the following in a PowerPoint presentation (with speaker’s notes) for senior managers in the organization:
Explain a model of group effectiveness in relation to the selected team or group.
Assess the current state of the team or group using the team effectiveness model you have selected.
Develop a strategy for helping the selected team or group become more effective by strengthening aspects of their performance as a change team.
Describe specific practical and actionable activities for improving the team.
Your presentation should be developed to support a central idea, with correct grammar, usage, and mechanics as expected of a business professional.Deliverable FormatYour supervisor's boss requests that you keep your presentation to 7–10 slides. He has also asked that you include one strong academic reference to give your ideas research-based context and support, but keep it to just one—there is no need for a long references list in a quick presentation such as this. Since you are preparing your presentation for upper management and other interested stakeholders, you want this PowerPoint to be well organized and readable.
References: Support your analysis with one academic resource from the Capella University Library.
Length: Include 7–10 PowerPoint slides (with speaker's notes), in addition to a references slide.
Written communication: Demonstrate graduate-level writing skills through accurate communication of thoughts that convey the overall goals of the presentation and do not detract from the message.
Correctness: Use correct grammar, usage, and mechanics as expected of a business professional.
APA Style: You must use proper APA style for in-text citations and to list your references.
