Use the main exponential decay equation:

y=ab^x

You can plug in x and y values from your given points into the equation.

First point: a*b^-1=8

Second point: a*b^1=2

Solve for a in first equation then plug it into the second equation.

a/b=8    first equation

a=8*b

a*b=2    second equation

(8*b)*b=2

8*b^2=2

b^2=1/4

b=1/2

Now plug this back into the second equation to solve for a:

a*(1/2)=2

a=4

So now plug a and b into the exponential decay equation:

y=ab^x

y=4*(1/2)^x
