cybercrime.
Various reasons have made cyber-crime a lucrative criminal venture. One of them is based
on the fact that, in spite of the high level of attention which is put on it by the government and
international agencies, there is still limited legislation touching on the subject. Therefore, criminals
take advantage of the gaps in law to engage in cybercrime with the need to obtain a high level of
profits which they could draw from the venture (Holt, Burruss, & Bossler, 2015). Another aspect
which makes cybercrime a lucrative venture is a fact that it offers wide opportunities for criminals.
They have the ability to gain access to accounts of individuals and organizations in various parts
of the world. The wide pool which they can choose from, therefore, means that the criminals attain
a high chance of being successful in various crimes which they seek to undertake.
The fact that cybercrime makes it easy for people to perpetrate transnational crimes has
also made it more appealing for criminals. They identify with the idea that it is challenging for
security officials to operate in areas which are beyond their jurisdictions (Smith, 2015). Thus, the
situation means that the criminals are likely to go scot-free right after engaging in crime because
of poor international structures which would be critical in helping to deal with such crimes
effectively.
