please help right the rules for adding and subtracting

Sep 1st, 2015

Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

The rules of adding and substracting are pretty simple but may be confussing at times.

-Adding has no problem especialy when dealing with positive inteers. e.g 45+3=48

-Adding negative integers is equivalent to taking the positive integer and subtracting from it the negative integer.

e,g 10+(-9) is the same as 10-9=1

-Adding negative integers  is the same as adding the two numbers as you would if they were positive then placing a negative sign in fron if the result.

e.g -9+(-9)=-18

-Subtracting negative integers  is different in that -9-(-9)=?

the two negative signs change to a plus hence we have -9+9

which is equal to zero.

Please let me know if you need any clarification. I'm always happy to answer your questions.
