A soccer ball is kicked with an initial horizontal velocity of 16 m/s and an initial vertical velocity of 18 m/s.

1) What is the speed of the ball 1.8 seconds after it was kicked?

2) How high above the ground is the ball 1.8 seconds after it is kicked?

Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

vertical velocity after 1.8 s

Vy=18-1.8*9.8 = 0.36 m/s

Vx = 16 m/s

speed is sqrt(Vx^2+Vy^2) = 16.0 m/s

y = 18*1.8-1/2 9.8*1.8^2 = 16.52 m

Please let me know if you need any clarification. I'm always happy to answer your questions.

Julie throws a ball to her friend Sarah. The ball leaves Julie's hand a distance 1.5 meters above the ground with an initial speed of 19 m/s at an angle 48 degrees; with respect to the horizontal. Sarah catches the ball 1.5 meters above the ground

What is the time the ball is in the air?

What is the vertical component of the ball’s velocity right before Sarah catches it?
