A soccer ball is kicked with an initial horizontal velocity of 16 m/s and an initial vertical velocity of 18 m/s.

1) What is the speed of the ball 1.8 seconds after it was kicked?

2) How high above the ground is the ball 1.8 seconds after it is kicked?

vertical velocity after 1.8 s 

Vy=18-1.8*9.8 = 0.36 m/s 

Vx = 16 m/s  

speed is sqrt(Vx^2+Vy^2) = 16.0 m/s

y = 18*1.8-1/2 9.8*1.8^2 = 16.52 m
