Hi there! Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

2b-5 = 8b+1

We need to isolate b. We do that by subtracting 8b from both sides:

-6b - 5 = 1

Then we add five to both sides:

-6b = 6

Dividing both sides by -6

b = -1

---------------------

 8x-2=3x+12.25 {Subtract 3x and add 2 to both sides}

5x = 14.25  {divide by5}

x = 2.85

-------------------

-17-2x=6-x, {add x and add 17 to both sides}

-x = 23  {divide by -1}

x=- 23

----------------------

2(x+4)=3(x-2) {Use distributive property}

2x+8 = 3x -6 {subtract 3x and subtract 8 from both sides}

-x = -14

x = 14

----------------------

6(x+7)-20=6x  {distributive property}

6x+42-20 = 6x {subtract 6x from both sides}

22 = 0 [Not true, which means NO SOLUTION!!!!]

---------------------------

 -2(x+2)=-2x+1 {use distributive property}

-2x-4 = -2x + 1 {add 2x and add 4 to both sides.}

0 = 5 [Not true, which means NO SOLUTION!!!]

------------------------

Please let me know if you need any clarification. Always glad to help!
