Marijuana or weed as is commonly known has for a long time been considered as a hard
drug. In most countries today it is an offence to be found in possession, growing or consuming
marijuana. There is however a growing number of countries reviewing their stand about
marijuana. South Africa is the latest countries after Canada that reviewed her laws legalizing the
use of marijuana either for medical or leisure purposes (Baum, 2016). This has most been
addressed by the fact that marijuana has medical benefits and that some people are using
marijuana for medical purposes.
