WANGARI MAATHAI
In this chapter, Wangari Maathai, a Nobel Prize winner is featured whereby she has been
championing planting trees. She is saying that trees are core to our lives here on earth. This
chapter relays the efforts by Dr. Wangari Maathai to plant trees and acknowledges that about 51
million trees have planted all courtesy of her efforts.
I have learned that to champion for environmental conservation, lots of efforts ought to
come from all stakeholders without exemptions of anyone. In light of the Dr. Wangari Maathai
efforts, she came up with a group called Green Belt movement which later became the
mechanism for steering Wangari's conservation efforts. It is clear that reforestation is one move
towards offering out long-term and short-term solutions to most of the problems of cutting trees.
