In this generation, it is not possible to hold a fruitful conversation about alcoholism or
even any other substance abuse recovery without ever mentioning alcoholism anonymous (AA).
This was my first ever meeting dealing with alcoholism that I ever attended and so I was very
careful to capture all the details into depth. The chairman would start the meeting by reading for
the audience the AA preamble which was followed by a serenity prayer. The first thing that I
learned with addicts is that they are very focused in their quest to change their behavior. The
serenity prayer is very short and as I sat around I could tell that more than 84% of all the people
