You are driving east across western Nebraska late at night on I-80. Your cruise control is set at 75 mph. (Mile markers go from 0 in the west to 455 at the Missouri river.) After driving 1.2 hours, you are at mile marker 200. Write an equation relating the mile marker to the hours you have been driving. Use M for the mile marker and h for the number of hours you have driven.

Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

Since you were driving for 1.2 hours at 75 mph, you drove (75)(1.2) = 90 miles by the time you reached the 200 mile marker.  Therefore you must have started at the 200 - 90 = 110 mile marker.

Therefore,

M = 75h + 110

Please let me know if you need any clarification. I'm always happy to answer your questions.
