Hygiene basically refers to the practice or the conditions that are meant for maintaining
good health and also preventing any possible occurrence of diseases through the process of
ensuring cleanliness. Workplace hygiene is very important and it is being treasure in any
organization as this would ensure good and conducive working environment for the employees.
This ensures that the surrounding area is kept admirable to any person. This is basically done
through sterilization of the working areas, purification, disinfection and ensuring proper
sanitation of the areas where the employees are using in the organization (Baah. 2011).
Motivator factor on the other hand is something that work hand -in hand with hygiene in
the workplace. These are the basic factors that leads to good performance in the workplace and
hence the production output being high and of good quality.
Managers of an organization and also the small business have full responsibility of
ensuring that the conditions under which employees are working under are clean and up to
standards. They are various things that managers have to put in place so as to ensure proper
hygiene. This includes washing the areas under the employees are working on. Thorough dusting
and washing on surfaces with detergents will bring out a niece look on the surfaces (Ball, 2003).
Nevertheless, workplace hygiene also entail personal hygiene of the individual
employees. This basically refers how an employee ensures that he or she looks presentable in
front of his or her colleagues and also including the clients they are working for. An employee
should maintain personal hygiene by ensuring that he or she regularly washes and cuts or shave
the hair. It ensures that the employee appears neat and presentable.
Moreover, bathing daily in the morning before going to workplace and after the work is
an advice given to any employee so as to maintain a healthy lifestyle in the workplace. This will

help to clean the skin and also kept it look fresh and attractive all day long. This is basically the
most important thing for any employee to do since it will help to keep off bad odor and hence
those working around you in the workplace will feel comfortable and even enjoy working around
the conducive environment.
However, in some cases, it is very important for those preparing food for the employee to
practice good hygiene. The kitchen where staff’s food is being cooked should be very clean. The
cooks preparing the food should dress up properly and ensure that sufficient water is used when
cleaning the kitchen or even the utensils that are being used to prepare food (Tan, 2011)..
In addition, illness policies in a workplace has to be upheld since this is of great
importance to any employee who is working in the organization. This kind of policies ensures
that those employees who are feeling unwell are given a chance to stay away from workplace so
that they cannot expose those who are in the workplace with germs. Majority of employees who
are given off on these days are likely to take it positively as they know the main aim, which is
ensuring other employees remain healthy. Organizations that practices the required hygiene are
likely to attract a lot of clients as there reputation is being uphold as to meet the standards that
are required in the business industry.
Herzberg’s theory of motivation towards employees in an organization is very important
(Ball, 2003). The main aim of his motivation theory is to enhance an intrinsic value and also
satisfaction that is gained by an employee in the workplace. This theory of motivation is not in
the organizational environment but in the person.
Motivating factors includes achievement of goals, advancement in technology as an
individual and hence the entire organization, personal growth of an employee, responsibility,

recognition and work itself. To begin with the motivating factor that is involved with
achievement of goals, any employee tends to ensure that he or she achieves the set objective or
the desired target. In normal cases, a determined employee set goals and objectives so that he or
she can have something that is working towards it. Achieving a goal even as an individual is
basically going to impact positively to your entire life. This will motivate you as an employee to
work even harder as the due results are really impressive.
Advancing as an individual is a nice experience that each person desire to have in life.
This basically involves things such as promotion in the workplace. Advancement also may
involve innovating creative stuffs that will lead to positive income to you as an employee and
hence the entire organization. Being creative involves trying to reach to solutions to problems
around you such as creating a system that will sort out issues that are related to the process in
which a job is being undertaken. Advancement as an individual is therefore seen to motivate a
person due to the fact that it tries to simplify the way things are done in the area of your
workplace as an individual (Ball, 2003).
Employees do grow personally under their area of specialization. An employee who work
in a particular area for example for the first time, is likely to gain new experience, meet new
people and meet job-related challenges. This is likely going to strengthen an individual in way he
or she carries out different tasks in the organization. Working with new people will means that, a
person is going to learn about the personalities of the people around, the skills they have under a
certain job and even able to share the knowledge and abilities under different perspectives (Tan,
2011). Meeting different people with different personalities will earn a person a lot. This will
help an individual to understand different people and even including the way they were brought
up. Attractive personality is going to motivate a person in such a way that he or she is going to

put in practice the nice personality since having such kind of personality will make the people
who are working with you to enjoy doing around you or even working as a team.
Job motivation also come in form of recognizing employees who perform very well and
hence rewarding in form appreciating the efforts they have made in a particular task. Every
organization is characterized with a reward structure. This differs with different employees and
different departments. Employees who put most effort to ensure that quality products or services
are meant in the organization are most treasured. This is because they tend to put an organization
to the next level. Quality services and products will attract a lot of customers and hence the entire
image of the organization is going to be upheld (Baah. 2011).
When rewards are given to customers, they are going to make them to feel that the efforts
they are putting in the organization are recognized. Employees are going to be satisfied with the
work they are doing. This will enable the employees to view positively working on different
tasks and hence even smarter so as to put organization in to the next level.
Satisfied employees are likely to yield the best output as compared to those who are not
satisfied about a certain situation. The company should ensure to fix up policies that are
obstructive and poor at the same time. This is going to ensure that togetherness among the
employees is enhanced in the organization. Nevertheless, provision of a supportive, non-intrusive
and effective supervision is very importance as to the way in which the employees should be
guarded when different areas of specialization (Tan, 2011).
In any organizational structure it is important to motivate the employees by creating and
supporting a culture of dignity and respect. Working as a team is likely to result to greater output
as the members of the team cooperate together and respect the presence of the other individual.

Respect is highly upheld as this is always the core value of success. Moreover, competitive
wages helps a lot to motivate an employee in the way he or she does a particular task. Working
harder among employees, when knowing that their wage rate is going to be increased is common
among many organizations.
Job dissatisfaction is usually brought up with issues that are related with job status that do
not have meaningful positions. Organizations henceforth, should ensure that they provide
different positions for different jobs. Those employee who work at higher levels feel motivated
due to the higher hierarchy that they own over other employees. This motivates an employees to
practice the required leadership skills to ensure maximum output (Baah. 2011).
Job security finally is an important factor that motivates employees to work comfortably
under certain environment. Each employee value the security of the workplace. Good security is
likely going to attract more employees to work in a particular organization since they feel that
they are secure. Hygiene in workplace and motivating factor is hence very important to ensure
that the employees work effectively so as to achieve output.
