Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

rational number is a number that can be written as a simple fraction (i.e. as a ratio).

e.g

5 = 5/1

0.25 = 1/4

To multiply two rational numbers multiply the tops and bottoms separately, like this:

1/2 x 3/4 = ?

multiply tops : 1 x 3 = 3

multiply bottoms : 2 x 4 = 8

Answer = 3/8

Please let me know if you need any clarification. I'm always happy to answer your questions.
