According to the chapter, in the time when early settlers were migrating to the new world
“America,” most from Europe commonly referred in the book as the old world they had
expectations of achieving their dreams. Their dreams included living in a free world which did
not have many restrictions and where there were plenty of opportunities. Indeed this is what they
encountered in the new world as narrated in the book. The writer says that “from these

implies that they became wealthy even more than they had expected. It is evident that the
American dream as it came to be known was achievable because through hard work, dedication,
and determination even the most despised people became successful in the new world.

strived through discipline and determination to become the richest man in the world at this time.
