Range= To find the range   first order the data from least to greatest. Then subtract the smallest value from the largest value in the set.

-1 0 1 1 1 4 = 4- -1=

Range = 3

variance= work out the mean, then for each number, subtract the mean and square the result.Then work out the average of those squared differences.

the mean in this case is = 1

-4 +-2 +0 +0 +0 +9= 3

variance = 0.5

standard deviation= 1.73
