Question description

This week's theory discusses the various factors that influence a jury’s verdict.

In many cases where the evidence is strong and straightforward, juries rely on that evidence as the primary factor that influences their decisions.

However, in cases where the evidence may be a bit ambiguous or weak, juries often turn to extralegal information during their deliberations.

Please review this week's theory and then discuss the following:

  • In your opinion, how might extralegal information influence a jury? (Be sure to define extralegal information and some of the popular sources of it.)
  • What do you think are some steps that should occur to counteract the effects of extralegal information?
