There are many definitions for the term project. One of them is a series of tasks that needed to be
completed in order to reach an ultimate goal. Another definition is represented by a complex but
no routine, one-time effort which is frequently limited by budget, resources and time and has the
role of meeting a final goal. The major characteristics of a project are represented by a clear goal,
a life span which characterizes its beginning and its end, participation across the organization,
specific time and also cost and performance requests.

The triple constraint is a formal way of referring to the iron triangle or the project management
triangle. It is a representation of the three major restriction element when we refer to a project:
the schedule, the scope, and the cost. The central theme is represented by the quality. It is drawn
as a triangle because all the elements are interdependent which means changing one of them will
affect the others. It is considered close to impossible to meet all the three expectations and
because of that many project managers focus on the pick two rule which consists of neglecting of
the elements and focusing on achieving the best on the other 2 elements.

Functional organizations tend to be organized around the functions which are needed by the
organization. It also represents the traditional structure of an organization. In this situation, the
project manager will be undergone by a team member of the functional area and will be known
as a functional manager.
A projectized organization is those organizations which focus on a project in other to achieve the
maximal project management effectiveness. In this situation, the project manager has more
resource control and more authority.
A matrix organization of the other hand is a blend of the characteristics of a functional and
projectized organization. They can be classified as being either strong based, balanced or weak
based on the authority the project manager and the functional manager have.

Organization culture is seen as a set of values and behaviors which have the role of defining the
way the organization functions. Because of that, the culture can have an impact on the project
management process. Project work tends to be better when we refer to organization culture
because it offers the employees the possibility to identify themselves with the goals imposed by

moment the moment it was initiated until it reaches the end of the cycle. In the same time, every
product in different stages of the product will pass through each phase of the project cycle.

most of the budget will be sent and all the deliverables of the project will be produced. It could
go on for day, weeks, months or even years depending on the set duration.
Monitoring and controlling: it ensures that the project stays on track. Some examples of elements
which are controlled during this step are represented by scope, the schedule, and the cost.
