IDS3555 Keiser University Chapter 6 Bullying Social Issue Paper
Study Chapter 6 pages 190-195 of your text.Select a topic from the list below and construct an argument using the eight steps listed on page 195 -- and discussed on pages 186-192. Warning: Please make sure you work on one of the issues listed -- no other arguments will be accepted!Make sure you fully understand what COMPLETENESS means (pages 186-7) OK, let me mention a fundamentally important part of it:You must look at and CONSIDER the opposing arguments (as every inductive argument must). It means that listing them is not good enough; you have to say which premises you find true or strong (and why) and which ones you find false or weak (and why) -- otherwise your argument would be one-sided. Obviously, accepting certain premises against our argument will not make it weaker since every issue is complex. 4. Strong feelings or even high passion are not elements of critical thinking; only reason is, as well as factual information. Morality, religion, value judgments, desires, wishes, preferences, tastes, likes, and dislikes do not make good subjects for critical arguments! Why? Because others may have other dislikes and likes, tastes, preferences, wishes, desires, value judgments, religion or morality, and the answer to the question regarding those, 'why do they prefer what they prefer instead of what we prefer' the answer is 'just because.' End of story.

University of Jaffna Sri Lanka What Type of Pain Is Julia Experiencing Questions
Please think through your answers to these questions then compose your post.Julia is a 43-year-old White non-Hispanic American who has been experiencing lower back pain. Julia began experiencing pain about 8 months and had been gradually worsening. After a couple of weeks of persistent suffering, she began to think about how this pain could interfere in her daily life, as she is very athletic and every morning she went for 1-hour runs. Julia also became anxious thinking about how she might not be able to go to work, or go on vacation with her family, and most importantly bathe and dress herself. She was nervous about what was happening in her body, what was this pain, was it treatable, and how she might not be able to manage it if her symptoms keep worsening. Now, her pain has gotten that bad that the only thing that she is able to do is lay in bed for the majority of the day, and even that does not make it better. Furthermore, she began experiencing some pain in her legs and upper back. She decided to seek treatment right away at a local hospital, but she has not experienced any improvement in her symptoms.Discussion Post Prompts:Have you ever experienced significant pain (if not, can you think of a loved one that has)? How did it affect your life, e.g. personally, socially, academically…?For the following questions try to put yourself in Julia’s position. What type of pain is Julia experiencing?Do you think that a treatment focused on reducing her suffering would improve her experience of pain? How much do you think subjective suffering plays a role in the bettering or worsening of symptoms?

Northern Virginia Community College Analysis of Creation Myths Discussion
Interpretation Analysis of Creation MythsDirectionsPart 1Interpret at least ONE of the above assigned myth. Interpretation of a myth requires examination of the myth from various levels and perspectives. In addition to seeing the myth's themes through the analogy of the myth onion, you must also do a close reading of the myth followed by a close (symbol by symbol) interpretation of it. Then you must connect the meanings you have derived to a larger question and to its significance in its culture of origin. Here is a process you can follow in order to do an effective interpretation: Do a close reading of the mythAnnotate the myth even as you read, noting the elements (the symbols, the juxtapositions, the events, etc.)Understand what is the larger purpose of the myth (for example, is the myth about a sociological function; is the myth paradigmatic for behaviors; is the myth about the relationship between man and divine? NOTE: Most myths address all these levels, but most myths will also have one function or purpose that over-arches)One you have understood the larger purpose, examine its various elements from that perspective. For example, examine what symbols it uses and why? What paradigmatic behaviors do its characters portray and why? Etc.NOTE: you must necessarily see these elements in relation to the myth's respective culture and explore how and why the elements of the myth are significant to that society and to the people of that society. To develop your responses, also consider:The materials you read for the Myth interpretation quizThe Introduction to each myth in your textbookThe symbology of the mythsThe relationship of the myths to the mythology of creations, as discussed in Chapter 2 (Creation Myths) of your textbookThe layers of the myth onionThe sample interpretation of Ganga (Module 5)Consider the following tips and suggestions to focus your interpretation:In the Norse myth of creation, consider the opposites that are juxtaposed and examine why this is so. (For example. fire and ice, light and darkness, evil and good, creation and void, etc.). Perhaps the function of this myth is portray man's relationship with the divine elements of nature and its polaritiesViolence seems to be an integral part of the Greek myth of creation. Why do you think this is so?Perhaps, the function of this myth is to establish the necessity of violence in a warrior society and to show the difference between good violence and bad violence. The Sumerian myth of creation seems to be about fertility and abundance. How does man fit into this design? The function of this myth appears to be to establish nature's relationship with man and show him that nature is giving. In the Hindu myth of creation, Narayan the Supreme Being, appears to be the Creator, Creation and Created? This myth's function is perhaps to show man the nature of transcendence.NOTE: Your responses should be: approximately 500-700 words supported with good examples from the mythssupported with critical analysis of symbols represented in the mythssupported with critical thought about what the elements of the myth tell us about the culturecited accurately according to MLAWhen you post your response in the Discussion Board, please state at the top, which myth you are analyzing. For example: Analysis of the Greek Creation Myth. This will allow your peers to immediately see which myth's analysis they are reading, when they post peer comments.Read Assigned Creation MythsRead the following Myths in your textbook, Myth and KnowingThe Creation, from the Eddas-- Norse (page 58)Theogony--Greek (page 63)The Creation of Ulligara and Zalgara-- Sumerian (page 75)Creation Myth from the Vishnu Purana-- Hindu (page 79)

Sociology Digital World Digital Growth Timeline
InstructionsYou are working for a local department store in the Operations Department. You notice that their business practices and use of technology are not up to date. You have worked other places that have relied more on digital technology that have been extremely successful, in part because of their operating efficiency. Your company is considering making upgrades to several of your operating processes. Because of your history of working in more technologically progressive environments, you are asked by your supervisor to create a visual presentation with a timeline of digital growth in the organization and compare it to the digital growth in society in general. In discussing this project with your boss, it is clear that digital growth can refer not only to Internet and computers, but it can also refer to other aspects of business operations such as cash registers, phone services, advertisements, various tools for communication, etc. Your supervisor asks that this timeline be created to help you, your supervisor, and other stakeholders determine the advantages and disadvantages of a proposed upgrade in technology in the workplace with the overall goal of understanding what systems can be put into place or maintained that can help the store run as efficiently as possible. You are told that the timeline can be in any visual format that you choose. For this timeline, you are to reflect and address the following sets of questions:
What is digital growth? Where is the company now in terms of digital growth?
What are some examples of technological advances that could be used in a department store operation?
What are some possible advantages and disadvantages of using advanced technology?
What is Big Data? How might Big Data be used in this business?
What are some possible advantages and disadvantages of the store using Big Data?
Do you believe that updating technology and business practices will be advantageous? Why or Why not?Be sure to use APA format and cite all sources.
