Describe super trends that are driving HP to change
HP is being forced to change due to some fluctuations in the tech industry. One is that the
company witnessed revenue growth in 2011 by $127 billion. However, in subsequent years, it
has seen a decline in sales. Another motivating factor is the massive layoff of employees since it
has fired 50,000 employees. This is a huge number considering that it wants to channel funds to
new technology. It is estimated that the company will save approximately $1 billion, which will
be used for new technology and acquisition of new skills. HP is also changing due to the nature
of competition in the market (Zell, 2018). For instance, it had ventured into the printer business;
however, the once lucrative business has dwindled due to technological changes that favor
companies like Google and Facebook. Additionally, the company attempted to tap into the fastgrowing tablet market, but the competitors outdid them. A weaker internal sales force has also
propelled HP change since it was spending a lot of time making a sales quote. Therefore, it has
decided to seek new tools from Salesforce.com.
