Air is a mixture of different gases like oxygen, nitrogen , carbon dioxide and inert gases. It is cooled to  -25 degrees remove carbon dioxide, then the temperature is cooled to lower degrees to separate oxygen , inert gases and nitrogen by the fractional distillation.
