For the final writer's journal, practice editing for style, clarity, and economy, by doing the following: First, select one paragraph each from two of your major writing assignments this unit. (These can be the same assignments you included in your Writing Portfolio.) Copy each paragraph into a document or your journal. Then, use Ruszkiewicz's thirteen suggestions from Chapter 18 to edit your prose. Pay close attention to the subject of each sentence, your specificity and clarity of nouns, and your pronouns. Include your edited versions of each paragraph in the journal. Finally, write a short paragraph reflecting on what you learned from this exercise. What aspects of editing do you find easy? What aspects are difficult or challenging? Why? Here are the Two Paragraphs for the assignment. Paragraph 1 Today’s world is becoming more connected using various communication strategies and avenues. Entrenched connections and diversification have come with both positive attributes and negative attributes. Various world countries communicate using different lingual orientations. The globe is generally a floral collaboration of diverse languages. The continent of Europe, for instance, is made of many countries that typically use different languages unique and different from the other. The continent generally uses English, Spanish, French and Italian among others. The countries in Asia and Africa on the other hand individually have various languages they use in their day to day interactions. The fact that different countries use different languages, it becomes a challenge for people traversing continental boundaries to interact amicably, but it is also positive in the sense that individuals can learn from one another encouraging diversity and knowledge flow. Paragraph 2 One of the most significant innovations by human beings today is the internet. The use of this technology has attracted users exceeding half of the entire world population. As such, it has changed the way people conduct their day-to-day activities. One of the areas that have experienced tremendous changes due to the internet is learning. Students across the globe have benefited from the information on every subject that is available on the internet, notably Google. The search engine has, therefore, become a tool that is not only fast and effective but also one that allows individuals to explore different ideas by accessing study materials. Internet use also enables students to be more imaginative and reflective as they search for the required information. Therefore, though sites such as Google are associated with countless learning benefits, it has some shortcoming such as negative influence on reading habits
