Socialization - The hypothesis portrayed by this theory states that women use less effective coping mechanisms than their male counterparts.

Role-constraint theory- This theory states that, when men and women occupy the same roles, there will not exist any gender difference coping strategies

Differences

 Women will use more support in the same role situation
