Big Bang Theory from the Islamic Perspective
Introduction
The Big Bang theory is a theory that explains the origin of the universe as we know it.
The Big Bang theory focuses on how the universe expands and cools, the formation of light
chemical, and the coagulation of matter to form galaxies and stars. Islam is one of the major
religions in the world. Muslims, Islam followers, believe in Allah who is the creator, sustainer,
and restorer of the world. Another major religion is Christianity which is based on the life and
teachings of Jesus Christ who is the Son of God. Hinduism is another major world religion which
is considered to be nearly 4,000 years old. Hinduism has many gods but there are three major
gods who control the world, Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. These three religions each have their
own take on the Big Bang theory. To better understand the Big Bang theory, we shall discuss the
theory in detail and relate it to Islam then make a comparison of the Islamic perspectives to the
Christian and Hindu perspectives.
Discussion
The Big Bang Theory
The Big Bang theory is a theory that attempts to explain the origin of the universe. The
Big Bang theory is a scientific approach to explaining the premise of the earth. Through the
scientific fields of physics and astronomy, there has been proof that the universe had a beginning
and that before the universe nothing existed. The Big Bang theory focuses on what happened just
before, during and after this period of creation of the universe. This momentary period before

and after the universe taking place is of great importance to physicist because of the mystery that
surrounds it.
The Singularity – The Before
The Big Bang Theory talks of a singularity. The singularity is a zone in the universe that
is believed to be at the center of a black hole. A black hole is an area in the universe that is
believed to have a great gravitational pressure (NASA, n.d.). The black holes are all over the
universe. Additionally, the black hole is said to have the ability of changing the state of matter
from a finite density into an infinite density due to the great gravitational pressure that exists.
This concept is still mind boggling to many mathematicians let alone non-academicians. At the
moment or place that the matter is squished to infinite density, that is where the singularity
exists. The singularity is infinitesimally dense, small and hot. This is said to be the origin of the
universe.
The During and the After
In the beginning, the before, the universe was a singularity that was infinitesimally dense,
small, and hot. This infinitesimal universe was then subjected to an inflation process which is
referred to as the ‘Big Bang’. During this Big Bang process, there was an immediate expansion
that led to the release of lots of energy. As such, during this moment the universe was very hot.
The universe then cooled and to the temperature that it currently has. The process continues up to
this day as the universe expands and cools more. The universe had the optimum conditions for
living things and humans on its planet, earth. Additionally, the planets and other spatial objects
in it circle a central star that offers sustenance known as the Sun. The universe also has several

other stars, planets, and features. This whole process is what is referred to as the Big Bang
Theory.
Evidence for the Big Bang
i.

Universe has a Beginning

The Big Bang theory is one of the leading theories of the beginning of the universe. The
Big Bang is supported by some major scientific evidence. To begin with, scientists are certain
that the universe had a beginning. Since the universe is finite, it has to have a beginning as all
things that are finite have an end. If the universe and its content were infinite then the universe
could have been assumed not to have a beginning. Therefore, the universe is finite and as such
has a beginning which forms the first piece of evidence.
ii.

Universe was Compact and is Expanding

To add on, the universe is constantly expanding. This expansion is purported by the Big
Bang theory. A study of the galaxies in the universe shows that they are constantly moving away
from each other. The speed at which galaxies move away from each other has been studied and it
has been found to be proportional to their distance apart. This constant growth in distance
supports the Big Bang theory's proposition that the universe continues to expand since its
inception. This phenomenon is referred to as Hubble's Law. Additionally, the constant expansion
of the universe also suggests that the universe was once compacted. These two findings further
the confidence of the Big Bang theory.
iii.

The Heat from the Big Bang

Moreover, the Big Bang theory suggests that the universe was formed in a process that
led to an intense release of heat energy. This heat energy must have some remnants since it must
have been massive. The study of the universe has revealed the Cosmic Background radiation
(CMB). The CMB is a faint glow that resides in the universe that flows to the earth with an even
intensity which is believed to be the initial residual leftover of the Big Bang (Leitch, 2003). This
faint flow was discovered by two Radioatronomers, Arno Penzias and Robert Wilson, who
received a Nobel Physics Prize for the discovery in 1978. The discovery of the CMB supported
the release of intense heat at the formation of the universe.
iv.

Light Elements

Another major piece of evidence for the Big Bang is the large number of light elements
found in the universe. The light elements are hydrogen, deuterium, lith...

Tutor went the extra mile to help me with this essay. Citations were a bit shaky but I appreciated how well he handled APA styles and how ok he was to change them even though I didnt specify. Got a B+ which is believable and acceptable.
